Editorial

“The fundamental prerequisite for a person to reach their goal is health.”

Vasa Pelagić

Dear colleagues,

As the fifth anniversary of the first issue of the Serbian Journal of the Medical Chamber approaches, the Editorial Board is pleased to highlight that over 200 professional and scientific papers, as well as book reviews, on various topics from virtually all fields of medical science, have been published during this period.

We have established a strategic partnership with the Institute for Medical Research of the University of Belgrade, which has become a co-publisher of our journal. Thanks to the Editorial Board’s commitment to maintaining the high quality of published manuscripts, ensuring proper and thorough peer review, and adhering to all other criteria necessary to provide valuable professional and scientific contributions, the Journal was included in the List of Categorized Scientific Journals by the Serbian Ministry of Science, Technological Development and Innovation, in 2023.

The first five years of the Journal were neither easy nor simple. Therefore, we take particular pride in emphasizing that—even during the COVID-19 pandemic, throughout essential and organizational changes aimed at improving and modernizing the structure and quality of the Journal itself, and now, in light of recent dynamic global and local events—we have remained steadfast in our primary goal: the professional and scientific promotion of individual and national health as one of the most important societal values.

In the current issue of the Journal, we present original articles by our esteemed colleagues from Angola, Teresa Vilunga Chituko Candido and Francisca da Caridade Felix Chitanga, which showcase the experiences in the areas of public health, as well as human resource and health system information management, within the country's healthcare system.

In their original article, Kristina Jevremović et al. present the initial results of their research on the inhibitory effect of probiotic bacteria on the growth and development of the causative agents of Lyme borreliosis. The review article by Biljana Đorđević et al. explores the characteristics of the reproductive bioeconomy market, while the review article by Milena S. Pandrc and Vanja Kostovski discusses various aspects of anti-ischemic therapy in the treatment of chronic coronary syndrome.

Sanja Momčilović et al. present a compelling review of the significance of the interaction between mesenchymal stem cells and macrophages within the inflammatory microenvironment.

Dolika D. Vasović et al. report a case of melanocytoma of the optic nerve head coexisting with juxtapapillary choroidal nevus, comparing their findings with a review of the literature.

Aleksandra Petrović et al. present a case of complex open foot injury treatment through the combined use of reconstructive surgical techniques, vacuum-assisted wound closure, and orthobiologic agents, while Danilo Jeremić et al. report two cases of revision total knee arthroplasty using a rotating hinge implant design.

Finally, Jadran B. Erčić offers a brief overview of the history of classification and treatment of one of the most common fractures in bone and joint traumatology – distal radius fracture at a typical site.

On behalf of the Editorial Board and in my personal capacity, I kindly invite you to contribute to our journal, while extending my best wishes for your personal health and that of your family.

Sincerely
